I just wanted to tell everyone about our wonderful stay at the Rio Guest House over Carnival 2007.

Not only is it great value for your money, but it has everything a traveller looks for:
1. Superb Accommodation Facilities (spacious rooms, amazing penthouse terrace, breath taking views of Copacabana beach, delicious breakfast
and the list goes on!)
2. Great Location
3. And the best reason to stay here would be the hosts, owners Marta and John make you feel right at home.

If you go to Rio, you must stay here. You can count on a very warm welcome, excellent service and very nice accomodations. My wife and I spent 3 nights at Marta and John's guesthouse. The dining area and patio have superb views of Cococabana beach. I've never found personalized service like this at a hotel. Marta will greet you with enthusiasm and give you all the details you want on interesting events in Rio, good restaurants, what to see, when to go, etc. She speaks five languages, so communication is not an issue. Marta is also an Angel from Heaven. While in Rio, I unfortunately required a trip to the hospital emergency room (not life threatening, but definitely not fun). Marta suggested a good hospital, arranged a cab, rode to the hospital with my wife and me, and helped us communicate with the doctors. I hate to think how things would have gone if I'd been staying in a hotel. In addition to that, you can't beat her breakfasts, the freshly squeezed juices and her own lemon grass tea. An excellent place to stay.

As a woman travelling alone, I found this B&B to exceed my expectations. From the breathtaking patio view of Copacabana beach to the pristine accommodations, maid service and breakfasts which included steaming buttery rolls, fresh cheeses, and exotic fruit every day, this was the best experience of my life. I have not been treated with this much attention in most of the 5 star hotels I have stayed at. My colleagues who stayed at various hotels along the strip had varied experiences, while I with the innkeeper as a guide, had a taste of Rio that only those living in Rio experience. I would not only recommend it, I would say that if you haven't stayed here during your visit to Rio you have missed out on life!
Highly recommended.
