The Cottonwood Canyons are one of America’s ideal vacation locations if skiing is what you like to do. One thing there is plenty of here is snow, feather-light snow, and lots of it. As condensation blows in across the Great Salt Lake and up the canyons, it dumps snow, adding up to about 500 inches of the stuff annually—more than anywhere else on the continent, and even more in the Cottonwood Canyons than neighboring areas like Park City. Snowbird, Solitude, Alta, and Brighton tend to have anywhere between 20-50 more inches of snow base than other neighboring (and more expensive) resorts do. Love snowboarding? Try Brighton out. It remains one of the most affordable resorts and has a terrain park. It is also a great resort for beginning skiers. Want to get away from the kids and the snowboarders? Try Alta.
