There aren't many condos right on the beach, where you can swim and snorkel in front. And there aren't many where you can sit on the lanai and watch Humpback Whales each winter. A prior guest told me “When I walked in and saw the view from the living room, I was delighted, when I went outside and saw the spectacular views of Maui's entire south coast, I was blown away”. Every morning we sat on the lanai and watched the sun come up over Haleakala. It was an indescribable experience”. So many guests loved their stay. Our condo is not an interior unit that shares two common walls. These can be dark inside, and you can hear the guests in the next unit through the walls. They have only one window in their master and their second bedroom’s window opens to a busy walkway or parking lot allowing strangers to look in. They must keep the blinds closed for privacy.
Being a corner unit, our condo has NO NEIGHBORS on one side, allowing for 180-degree views from our corner lanai and the front corner master bedroom's large wall-to-wall windows that face out to both sides of the beach. Our second bedroom’s windows have a view of the tropical grounds, the ocean and the pool. It is quieter and more private than the interior units.
Our bedrooms are 'traditional' rooms with solid walls and locking doors, unlike a 'loft' bedroom that opens to the space below, or a bedroom that is completely open to the living room and closes with a flimsy folding wall. These offer no privacy from the noise of other guests. In our master bedroom is a newer $2,600 King size “Sleep Numbers” adjustable bed with dual remotes. Each side can be individually set to your desired firmness or softness, for a wonderful nights sleep. It has a new luxurious comforter, 300 ct. sheets, and new pillows. Two comfortable twin beds with new pillowtop mattressed in the 2nd bedroom can be pushed together to create another king size bed. The bedrooms have beautiful decor, window blinds and cooling ceiling fans. Both have Cable TVs. The master also has a DVD player and the back bedroom has a VCR.
Our property is one of only three complexes in Maalaea, right on a sandy beach. The other seven are on a rocky reef. Many use coin $$ operated laundry rooms (costs money and you must sit and wait for your clothes). Two properties are right next to the busy Maalaea Harbor with its traffic, boat-engine noise and fumes. One complex doesn't have a pool and a few have distant parking lots forcing you to carry your bags a long ways.
The Kanai A Nalu is considered the best vacation property in Maalaea because of its location and amenities. The street ‘dead-ends’ just beyond us so there is very little traffic making it quiet and tranquil. It is directly on a beautiful sandy beach, right on Maalaea Bay. You can see the whales from it during winter. It has beautiful tropical grounds, with lush green lawns, orchids, plumeria and even banana trees. There are four BBQ's, a poolside eating area, comfortable chaise lounges, a lovely free-form pool (it’s one of the few heated in winter) and a beachside shower. Free parking is provided near each condo. Being a convenient, ground floor unit, there are no stairs or elevators to deal with. We have our own in-unit washer and dryer and newer “remote controlled” air conditioning
Our condo is only 15 steps away from Kealia beach. Beyond our property, it runs parallel to a Government Protected Wildlife Refuge. No development is allowed along this coastline because the endangered Hawksbill sea turtles lay their eggs here. It becomes Sugar Beach and runs for miles, all the way to Kihei. Take a morning walk on it and you may not run into another person. It's like your own private paradise. This is the most un-crowded beach on Maui. There are tide pools to explore and seashells to collect. If you want crowds, you'll have to go to Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kihei or Wailea. We purchased this remarkable “Absolutely Beach Front” condo in late 2005 and spent thousands of dollars remodeling and upgrading it. In 2006, we added a $2,600.00 Sleep Numbers king size bed, remote controlled air, high speed internet, two wall mounted hair dryers, and a crib. Updated again in June 2007: In the kitchen we added beautiful new countertops, new electric stove top, new toaster oven, new dish towels and accessories and a custom, bamboo bar front. In the bathrooms we added new ceiling fans, new rugs, towels, designer molding around the mirrors and new accessories. In the bedrooms we added new ceiling fans (the condo has six), a luxurious king comforter and 300 ct. sheets, and a safe for your valuables. We bought all new pillows, and sheets. In the living room we added beautiful new plants and designer wall pieces, new paint, and a new mattress on the queen sleeper sofa, plus a new comforter and sheets. Upgraded again in 2008, we purchashed new pillowtop twin mattresses, new games, sand toys, DVD’s and VHS movies, boogie boards, beach towels, and we repainted. We go often to update the condo and keep it ,comfortable and looking fantastic for our family and our guests.
Due to the previous owner being in a wheelchair, the doorways are wider and the master shower is larger than most. Also, the lanai is twice the normal size. He was given permission to enlarge it to accommodate his wheelchair, plus tables and chairs. It extends beyond the normal lanais, increasing our view even further. It has two tables and six chairs instead of the normal four. With large groups of guests, everyone can be together. Or with just a couple of guests there is room to spread out. Unlike the other lanais that are set back and enclosed by two walls, our expanded lanai has a feeling of “Openness ”. The condo is wheelchair accessible, and handi-cap parking is just a few feet from our door.
The remodeled, kitchen has everything; New counter top, Large side-by-side fridge, icemaker, new toaster oven, microwave, dishwasher, new electric stove top, large oven, dishes, utensils, pans, toaster, new coffee maker, blender, bean grinder, new dish towels, and our own convenient Washer and Dryer.
Also redecorated, the master bath has an over sized (wheelchair accessible), tiled shower with both a wall mounted and a hand held showerhead. The other bathroom has a full size tub with a shower above, and sliding doors. They are accented with lovely nickel plated faucets, seashell themed art, plush decorator towels, rugs, lovely framed mirrors, new ceiling fans and each has a wall-mounted, hotel quality hair dryer.
The condo has 3 Cable TVs, 2 DVD and 2 VHS players with movies for both, a CD stereo system and a phone with free long distance to the mainland and an answering machine. There is remote controlled air conditioning, six ceiling fans and a “de-humidifier” that removes the moister from the air. We have free Wireless & DSL, so bring your lap top. There is a “Safety 1st” crib, sand toys, beach mats, beach towels, ice-chest, beach chairs, an umbrella, and boogie boards. We have books, activity guides children's and adult's games and movies, all linens, an iron, ironing board, a vacuum, and a safe for your valuables. The condo is Wheelchair Accessible, it sleeps 6 and FREE parking is just steps away.
The condo is centrally located to everything. We are only 12 minutes from the airport on a new double-lane highway, about 25 minutes from Lahaina, about 7 minutes from Kihei and about 15 minutes from Wailea.

When comparing our condo's prices to the others please keep this in mind: Sometimes the photos and information on some web sites can be misleading and don't include all the facts. Many Ocean or Beach Front condos are actually located on a rocky reef (no beach). There are trick photos that don't really show the view or the beach. Many sites don't mention their paid parking or a distant parking lot, forcing guests to carry their bags a long ways, or the coin $$ operated laundry rooms, where you pay and have to sit and wait until it's dry. Some have a master bedroom that is open to the living room, or an upstairs loft. Both of which offer no privacy, or block the sounds of the other guests in the unit. They are realizing that the cheaper priced condos, are further back in the complexes and their lanais are small and have a limited beach view or only a mountain view. They may have no air conditioning and not many upgrades, with older beds and furnishings, and they may be in a noisy location (near street traffic), or at a property across the street from the beach (many in Kihei). At some of the large properties in Kihei, Lahaina or Kaanapali they are very crowded, with people everywhere and their beaches are also very crowded. You will find none of the above at our property, the Kanai A Nalu. As they say You get what you pay for.

When comparing our condo's prices to the others please keep this in mind: Sometimes the photos and information on some web sites can be misleading and don't include all the facts. Many Ocean or Beach Front condos are actually located on a rocky reef (no beach). There are trick photos that don't really show the view or the beach. Many sites don't mention their paid parking or a distant parking lot, forcing guests to carry their bags a long ways, or the coin $$ operated laundry rooms, where you pay and have to sit and wait until it's dry. Some have a master bedroom that is open to the living room, or an upstairs loft. Both of which offer no privacy, or block the sounds of the other guests in the unit. They are realizing that the cheaper priced condos, are further back in the complexes and their lanais are small and have a limited beach view or only a mountain view. They may have no air conditioning and not many upgrades, with older beds and furnishings, and they may be in a noisy location (near street traffic), or at a property across the street from the beach (many in Kihei). At some of the large properties in Kihei, Lahaina or Kaanapali they are very crowded, with people everywhere and their beaches are also very crowded. You will find none of the above at our property, the Kanai A Nalu. As they say You get what you pay for.

Rates are for 2-4 guests. Extra guest is $10 per night. Minimum stay is 5 nights unless noted otherwise. $95.00 Cleaning Fee. $500 refundable security deposit required with booking.
