Within walking distance of the Villa are restaurants, public transportation, medical services, and many conveniences. On the south end of La Cruz is Playa Manzanillo where a carpet of fine, golden-white coral sand stretches along a little cove sheltered by a limestone headland. To the north, enjoy lunch at Pardisco Escondido. Try fresh huachinango (red snapper), camarón (shrimp) or langosta (lobster) in a lush tropical setting on a private cove (bring your swimsuit). Whether it's snorkeling at nearby Playa Peidra Blanca, fishing from the beach, chartering a boat, or golfing at nearby Club de Golf, this place was made for peaceful vacationing.

The nearby beach community of Bucerias offers additional services and restaurants. (Check at the Villa for a list of things to do.) Enjoy its long sandy beach or be adventurous and walk from La Cruz to Bucerias along the beach. It's a great way to explore the area.

A favorite beach of the Villa is Playa Las Destiladeras, approximately 3 miles (5 km) from the Villa on the route to Punta de Mita. (For the beach lover, there is one mile of heavenly white sand with two to five foot waves, perfect conditions for body surfing and boogie-boarding.) Enjoy lunch in their excellent restaurant or sit under your own palapa umbrella while enjoying ice cold Pacifico Beer (the local favorite) as well as other refreshments. Just past Playa Las Destiladeras is the newly opened beach club, Los Veneros. With two oceanfront fresh water pools, gourmet dining, beachfront bars, a daily show featuring rare tropical birds, and artesian quarters where you can watch local craftsmen produce traditional arts and crafts.

Punta de Mita, on the point of the peninsula, is the final stop on the bay and is now being developed with champion golf courses, the Four Seasons Hotel and its fine restaurants, as well as many surprises for a quick change of pace.

Going north on Highway 200 towards Tepic, Sayulita, or San Francisco Beach is an enjoyable day trip. While in Sayulita, experience Don Pedro's restaurant, beach dining with a very exciting menu. An alternate route to Sayulita from Punta de Mita goes through the villages Punta Negra and Higuera Blanca for an interior view of this tropical jungle paradise. Any local can direct you to the commonly-traveled interior road or just ask for a map at the Villa.

We should not forget Puerto Vallarta, although with so much to experience away from the tourist hustle and bustle, it could happen. Ever since John Huston brought his movie crew to film Night of the Iguana, thousands of tourists daily enjoy this lively town on the tropical Pacific Coast. Despite the congestion, Puerto Vallarta offers a breezy Malecon along the ocean front. You can enjoy this busy town's fine boutiques, art galleries, many restaurants, and legendary night life. Le Bistro and Mama Mia's (link to Web Site) are two of the Villa's favorites.

Golf, tennis, sports fishing, and sailing are available to all guests of the Villa. A complete list of nearby businesses that offer these and more is always available upon request. Jungle hiking can be enjoyed by walking out the door of the Villa and onto the dirt roads and paths that surround this tropical paradise. Although there are many activities, beaches, and villages within a 15-minute drive or bus ride from the Villa, once you have relaxed poolside, it will be hard to pull yourself away from the infinite view of tropical mountains, Pacific bay coastline views, and the Villa's comforts.
