Saco beaches (Ferry Beach, Camp Ellis, Bayview, Kinney Shores) are located 2-1/2 - 3 miles south of Old Orchard Beach and are at the ocean on Saco Bay. Old Orchard has amusements & gift shops. From the beach, it's about 5 miles to Funtown which is a theme park & water park; 7 miles to the Aquaboggin, a water park; 5 miles to major supermarkets. Another attraction is /bird watching/, especially at the Scarborough Marsh, which is about a 5-minute drive from Old Orchard & 10 minutes from Saco. Others nearby are the Saco Heath, Kennebunk Plains, Two-Lights in Scarborough (in the off season) &, Biddeford Pool to name a few.

Saco & Old Orchard are half way between Kittery & Freeport for outlet shopping; 20 minutes to South Portland to a major mall and 20 minutes to Portland. Whale watching & deep-sea fishing boats leave from the docks in Camp Ellis. Kayak rentals are nearby for use on the Saco River, which goes out to the ocean at Saco Bay. Boats for deep-sea fishing & whale watching also leave Camp Ellis docks.

At Camp Ellis there are two local restaurants (specializing in seafood), a bait & tackle shop, a mile-long jetty to fish from or just to walk on, a large dock with both fishing & pleasure boats in the harbor. You can also fish right off Surf St. in Ferry Beach at high tide or off the beach itself. The tackle shop in Camp Ellis is on the dock. People fish off of the docks or off of the mile-long jetty over there. Can fish off the beaches also. They have bicycle rentals in Old Orchard, on W. Grand Ave.
