The description of this beautiful little gem does not do it justice! Staying with our 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter, we had the peace and quiet that daily life does not often allow us to enjoy. The iPads were left behind, so reading, making things, playing games and cards, and swimming were easy for everyone. Even the small television set provided was disregarded and we never heard "I'm bored"!
The first impression was a huge "WOW!" from everyone, and the emotion was still the case a week later when we sadly had to leave it all behind.
As with previous guests, we were met by the most lovely couple, Kathryn & Hilroy, a couple of minutes from the airport, at a bar on the beach. A couple of drinks later, we were driven to the villa, whilst shown all the facilities and beauty spots along the way. Living in the south of the island is easy, away from the hussle and bustle of the north, we felt. As we arrived on a Sunday, the fridge had been replenished with the usual bread, milk etc, and tea and coffee was kindly provided throughout. There is nothing Kathryn and Hilroy wouldn't do to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. We even had our Sunday supper cooked and brought down on a tray for us!! The kitchen is set up as if for a permanent stay, with everything you can think of, even a panini toaster and a blender! And fresh mangos are provided from our very own trees, but Hilroy came back with real fruity treats from his dad's garden as well, not to mention the gorgeous homemade punch :-)
Hilroy is up at the crack of dawn every morning to clean the decks and the pool before the kids even have a chance to think "water!". And advice was provided everyday with suggestions for local visits and beauty spots. The Sulfur Bath near Soufriere is a must (and seemed to genuinely help the healing of our son's skin), followed by a dunk in the waterfall at sugar bay. Kathryn even made numerous phone calls on our behalf to book sea excursions to see dolphins, or even to book us a hire car!
We had quickly decided against hiring a car at the airport as the family knew Nigel, a local taxi operative who could offer a small 4x4 for about half the price. We were taken back to the Reef bar on Monday morning, keys were handed over, "permission to drive" arranged, all with Hilroy's help, and we were on our way.
We hope that you too decide to stay with this marvellous family in what was paradise to us. You will surely have the most relaxing and beautiful welcome, as we did.
