Description & Details of Lake McQueeney River Home
Thank you for finding the LMRH. We begin booking May 1st.

Private Waterfront, Gated, on Peninsula

The Lake McQueeney River Home is a one of a kind, beautiful and privately gated waterfront home, sitting midway between New Braunfels and Seguin on the Lake McQueeney portion of the Guadalupe River. (Lake McQueeney is the largest lake and river portion of the Guadalupe River just below New Braunfels).

This like new 2000 sq. ft. home sits on a 1/2 acre of lush Saint Augustine grass amidst tall shade trees on a private 6 acre peninsula perfect for families.

Most of the home's rooms share a view of the Guadalupe River. The crown molded interior is vaulted with ceiling fans and either Berber carpet or ceramic tile flooring. There is a large well stocked kitchen with granite counter tops and bar connected to a spacious dining room with an antique pecan dining table seating 8. The bar seats 4, and the breakfast table seats 2. The home's living room opens to a wrap around front porch with ceiling fans, porch swing, tables, and stereo speaker.

The downstairs bedroom with an antique claw foot tub/shower and the upstairs bedroom with a tiled shower and skylight contain queen sized beds. The upstairs dormitory has two skylights illuminating two single beds, a futon and an entertainment center and shares the upstairs bath. Off the back of the house is a screened porch to hang your wet clothes and/or store your coolers. There is also a wash room for added convenience.

Amenities

The property is accessed through a remote operated entry gate. The grounds themselves overlook the widest part of the river portion of Lake Mcqueeney. There is a private waterfront for floating, fishing and lounging with two piers (one 4 foot and one 8 foot pier and ladder). There is a mooring site just off the piers with an anchor buddy mooring rope.

Abutting the property is a private homeowner's park extending your walks and fishing another 1500 feet up river. There is an organic garden (in season), for your pleasure.

The nightly rate includes free unlimited long distance calling and free unlimited access to twenty premium movie channels and 2 on demand channels The home is also fitted with highspeed internet via wifi or your own ethernet cable.

Central AC-heat. Stereo speakers throughout. DVD/VHS. Washer-dryer. Dishwasher,
microwave, breadmaker and coffee maker.

Gas and charcoal BBQ grills, canoe. Checkouts, when available -tubes, rafts, croquet, horseshoes, badmitton, and extra lawn furniture.

Ask about the private ski boat rental (including all equipment and driver - $80/hour), and the private party boat (seating 25 - $150/hour). There are also river tours/taxi services and the ski school in season. It is possible to specially arrange tennis, swimming and open air dining on the lake.

All linens and paper goods are stocked in the home. Please refer to the restaurant recommendation list, and local locations such as the store, pharmacy and hospital.

Located just off Highway 46, The Lake McQueeney River Home enjoys exceedingly easy access to all of the many surrounding activities. Yet, a complete vacation can be had at the home itself. Swimming, tanning, floating and fishing from the landings in front of the house with an ice cold punch can entertain for hours. Water skiing, wake boarding, tubing, jet skiing, and canoeing are immediately off the landing as well. Feeding the catfish at dusk or perch fishing can be real fun for the kids. With a little planning, a fishing day trip for Dad can be arranged just upstream.

The yard is very amenable for outdoor games and activities such as badminton, croquet and horseshoes, which could be observed from the home's porch swing. It is common to see hawks, owls, herons, various duck species (including wood ducks) and occasionally at night, raccoons. To really punctuate your trip take a midnight cruise on the party boat.

Within minutes are area spas, gyms, hiking trails, biking, spelunking, scuba diving, and golf. In fact, the Bandit Golf Course just 15 minutes from the house is rated as one of the top 5 golf courses in the state. Other area attractions include the 135 year old Naegelin's bakery in New Braunfels, the dance hall in historic Gruene, the art in Wimberly and the music scene, museums and 27 world class libraries in Austin.

If you are looking for fun on the water, water ski off the front landings with your private boat and driver. Carry your tubes upstream in the park and float back. Or if you prefer leaving for the day, Schlitterbahn Water Park, Sea World and River Road rafting/tubing are waiting. You can also tube the Comal River starting at the shoot area of the river just north of Schlitterbahn. This run courses past Schlitterbahn and is a much safer tubing experience than the Guadalupe along River Road.

Of interest as well is Landa Park, which surrounds the source of the headwaters of the Comal River. The river forms from the underground spring emanations of the crystal clear Edward's Aquifer. The Comal is the shortest river in Texas, as it merges with the Guadalupe inside the city limits of New Braunfels. While in the park, the Comal feeds a variety of swimming areas including a massive spring fed lifeguard monitored pool. There are also paddle boats and a miniature train that can take you on a park tour.

Shopping along San Antonio's River Walk, as well as the outlet mall in San Marcos and Cabela's world headquarters in Buda are second to none. Don't miss the Black Rooster's antiques in Greune. You'll find vintage 1800's pieces primarily from England there.

Finally, lesser known but equally engaging attractions include - trout fishing in the Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam, touring the magnificent Natural Bridge Cavern (I believe that although it's smaller, it may beat Carlsbad in beauty), and the newly restored Tower of The Americas restaurant in San Antonio. The Tower restaurant is located on top of what was once the tallest free standing tower in America, which was built for the San Antonio World Fair. The restaurant rotates completely each hour offering a sunset experience the whole family will remember for years to come. Reservations to the Tower are recommended to be made 2 weeks in advance.
