There is an abundance of great entertainment and activities in Playa Del Carmen from great restaurants, clubs and coffee shops to palapa diners. Shopping is extensive, from economical regional crafts, to clothing, jewelry and art. The core entertainment and shopping area is along the main pedestrian spine of Playa, known as Quinta Avenida or Fifth Avenue. During the day it's basking in the tropical sun, by night it is closed off to automobiles and comes alive with energy and excitement. Activities abound in the area including extensive Mayan ruins, gorgeous eco water parks and world class deep sea diving and snorkeling.
