Shopping on 5th AvenueQuinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, is a pedestrian walkway located just one block inland from the beach in Playa Del Carmen. It is lined with shops, bars and restaurants. Xcaret Eco Theme Park Located 8 km (5 mi) south of Playa del Carmen off the Cancun-Tulum Highway 307. At this place, among many other attractions, you'll find archaeological ruins of one of the most important ceremonial centers of Mayan culture. You'll also see plenty of natural beauty such as caves, underground rivers full of colorful indigenous fish, and a reef aquarium. Here you can go horseback riding in the park with the Caribbean Sea as a backdrop.

Xel-Ha Located 47 km (29 mi) south of Playa del Carmen off the Cancun-Tulum Highway 307. This ecological park has creeks, natural wells, lagoons and caves with underground rivers that empty into the sea. Here you can scuba dive and snorkel in the main lagoon or an underground river. In addition, you can take an amazing tour to observe underwater life in caves and rivers with crystalline waters. The park also offers a Sea Trek tour, allowing you to get a closer look at marine life.

Discover Ancient Mayan RuinsChichén-Itzá is one of the largest and most impressive archaeological sites in Mexico, located two hours by bus from Cancun. It is two cities: one was ruled by the Mayans from the 6th to the10th century A.D. and the other was a Toltec-Mayan city that emerged in 1000 A.D. The site combines Toltec and Mayan influences and is ripe with cosmological symbolism. Its four sides contain 365 steps, 52 panels and 18 terraces (for the 18 months of the religious year). The site also contains a cenote (limestone sacred well or sinkhole) and an observatory.

Tulum is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city and is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites. The ruins are located on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula south of Playa Del Carmen via highway 307. Tulum is also the Mayan word for fence,trench or wall and the walls surrounding the site allowed Tulum fort to serve as a defense against an invasion. A number of the buildings have fresco murals on the interior. This tourist destination is now divided into three main areas: the archaeological site, the pueblo or town, and the hotel zone, or strip of beach lined with small cabanas.

Sport FishingAnglers from around the world come to Playa del Carmen and Cancun for sports fishing. Charter fishing boats leave from Playa del Carmen every day. Many fishing charter boats head south towards Tulum and hug the coast. You can see beautiful jungle and Mayan Ruins from the boat while you fish for marlin, sailfish, wahoo and more. Plus the fishing off Playa del Carmen is good all year round.
