To the east is the majestic and breathtaking Haleakala Crater, the house of the sun; to the west are the awe-inspiring ridges of the West Maui mountains where historical Lahaina town (first capital of Hawaii) is located. Visit historic Iao Valley where early Hawaiian chieftains fought battles to unite the Hawaiian monarchy. As you look into the the blue Pacific you'll see the islands of Kaho'olawe and Lana'i. You must visit Hana on the east side of the island which will remind you of old Hawaii.
