Enjoy lots of privacy and great views of Chimney Rock from this custom built adobe house on 35 acres located about 20 miles west of Pagosa Springs. The four bedrooms and three bathrooms will comfortably accommodate 12 people. The living room, kitchen, and dining area are located on the main level. Just off the kitchen is a bedroom containing a queen size bed and satellite TV and a full bathroom with shower across the hall. There is a loft upstairs with a couch, table and chairs, satellite TV and CD/DVD player; and there is a twin daybed with a twin trundle on the loft as well. The master bedroom suite, with a California King bed, is just off the loft. French doors open onto a small balcony, and the suite includes a full bathroom with shower and a bathtub with jacuzzi jets. On the other end of the loft is another bedroom with a queen bed. The basement has a ping-pong table, treadmill, and weight machine as well as a sitting area and television. Also in the basement are a bedroom, a full bathroom with shower, and a laundry room. There is a hot tub with jacuzzi jets just outside the back door as well as a BBQ.The Chimney Rock Archaeological Area is just down the road from the house and offers fascinating tours of this sacred Anasazi site. Navajo Reservoir is about 25 minutes (15 miles) west on Highway 151 and Lake Vallecito is about an hour's drive, and both offer camping and water sports. Wolf Creek Ski Area is about an hour's drive east. It is about a 20-minute drive to the outskirts of Pagosa Springs (and the nearest supermarket!) and a 50-minute drive to the outskirts of Durango. Pagosa Springs is a charming mountain community whose name means Healing Waters, with one of the world's largest naturally occurring hot springs. There is hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, camping, and other activities available in and around Pagosa Springs. The San Juan River runs through the heart of town, with guided raft trips offered. In addition, Wolf Creek Pass and Wolf Creek Ski area are a half hour east of Pagosa Springs. This small ski resort boasts the most snow in Colorado, and both Wolf Creek Pass and the Durango-Silverton highway (Highway 550) are covered with aspen that provide a particularly spectacular autumn show of colors. For those who would like to tour the beautiful countryside of New Mexico, replete with magnificently colored rock formations, both Taos and Santa Fe are just a few hours away. These New Mexico towns feature historic adobe buildings and hold the character of their Spanish and Indian past. Mesa Verde, the ancient Anasazi cliff dwellings, is located about 45 minutes west of Durango. There are walking tours of the ruins and fascinating museum exhibits. The Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad offers a breathtakingly beautiful train ride from Durango through the San Juan Mountains to the historic mining town of Silverton. Although the ride is three hours in each direction, bus transportation is available for the return trip for those who wish to shorten the travel time. It is often necessary to make reservations in advance for the train, but the same spectacular scenery can also be enjoyed by car and is only a one-hour drive each way from Durango. Chama, just over an hour's drive south of Pagosa Springs, also offers a Narrow Gauge Railroad trip with lovely scenery.

We had a great vacation at Chimney Rock Adobe. It is a beautiful home, completely furnished with all the requirements of home. The owners were so cooperative and responded immediately when a problem arose with heating. We were extremely pleased. The room has three floors which provided for the privacy of each family and yet allowed us to gather
in the beautifuly kitchen and living area for joint fellowship. This was one of the most perfect trips we have made to Colorado. We definitely recommend this home to all and will certainly
check this site out first when we return to Pagosa Springs.
