Our Beautiful Cartagena vacation apartment is one of the newest buildings located in the touristic area of El Laguito, half a block away from the Hilton Cartagena Hotel. The Cartagena vacation rental, Mirador del laguito, is 15 minutes away from the airport, 10 minutes away from the historical old city and walking distance to the beach and Bocagrande. Our Cartagena vacation condo can also be rented as a one bedroom to accommodate smaller groups. In this case the second bedroom and one bathroom will be locked to reduce the rental cost and will not be rented. You can also request to have the second bathroom available for you to use.
There is a balcony off the master bedroom and living room where you can enjoy the view of the ocean and the excitement of the El Laguito. The Cartagena vacation rental comes with AC units and ceiling fans in all the rooms, hot water, cable TV, a DVD player, stereo with AM/FM tuner CD/MP3 player with iPod and USB docking stations. There is also a safe in the apartment for you to use. The Cartagena apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen with all the comforts of home; full size refrigerator, microwave oven, coffeemaker, gas stove, dishes and utensils are all included.
You will also have all the convenience at your footsteps: taxies, restaurants, nightclubs, ATM, casinos and much more. El Laguito has all the convenience you need and only a few steps away. Catching a taxi in front of the building is only seconds away. For $4,000 pesos (around $2.00 us) a taxi will take you almost anywhere you want to go. There is no need to rent a car.

This is a very good property, especially for wheelchair users.
My wife uses a wheelchair, so the old town hotels and even most of hte modern buildings in BocaGrande or Laguito, had too many steps or were otherwise not accessible.
Arcely was amazing to work with. I've had friends set me up in their own place who were not as helpful.
She must have answered 50 emails with kind, thoughtful answers. She even purchased a plastic chair to accommodate my wife in the shower -- increasing wheelchair access.
And she arranged a phone for our use at a nominal fee.
The doormen were first rate...we never had to hold the door open ourselves. The building was super safe, secure, quiet.
The view was amazing. Glass everwhere for natural light and vistas across Laguito toward Bocagrande, Castillogrande....you could even seen the Atlantic from a window in the kitchen.
Speaking of the kitchen, it was huge, modern -- had everything you'd need. The table was large and clean. It was just the two of us, but 4 could stay in this apartment...and 6 could probably squeeze in and still be comfortable with 2 bathrooms, lots of living space.
The apartment also has tons of storage space. It has good extra linens. There is on-site drop off laundry that will wash and fold your whole load of clothes for less than it would cost to have one shirt dry cleaned via a hotel's service.
There's a nice pool and a parking garage. This is the scale of builidng a person could live year-round in...not a little hotel-sized room in a pretty new building.
Laguito fit our needs perfectly. It's quiet, down to earth.. Cabs all around because the Hilton is just a few doors down. It's not a glamourous area. There a couple decent restaurants and little convenience stores.
You will be taking a cab to everything but the beach. It's way to far too walk to the old city...but again, it's far quieter and much much cheaper than a staying at a place in the old City.
The cab rides are dirt cheap and take only about 10 minutes to the heart of the walled city.
Overall, this is probably a 4.5 on a scale of 1 to 5 property.
The biggest minus is the entire lack of hot water. We were told that even in upscale buildings, this is common in Cartagena. That may be, but a property adverstised as Luxury should have the disclaimer that the shower is icy cold, so you will not feel like soaking in it if you're used to warm water.
The only other minus is the only TV is in a room right at the entrance of the apartment -- not in the master bedroom, not in the common area near the balconies, not in the 2nd bedroom.
But we really didn't need TV because we preferred playing in Cartagena more than watching the tube -- we can do that at home.
If you every wondered about the safety of Cartagena...don't worry at all. It is safe as anyplace -- if you're not doing something stupid in some location you shouldn't be -- you'll not be harmed by anything.
The restaurants are amazing, the architecture some of the best preserved colonial in all of Latin America, the people are beautiful, streets are very walkable.....this is like a warm, historic, exotic piece of Europe place in year-round warm sunny weather only a 2.5 hour flight from Miami.

Traveling overseas is always a concern. Staying at this Condo put me at great ease. The onsite Management and Security were awesome. Accomadations were a 10 on 10. The proximity to all the fine places to go was excellent. Taxis are always parked in front of the building waiting for you not that you need them. Restuarants and bakeries within a stones throw of the building. Casinos within walking distance. Leaving was a snap. Airport was only 10 minutes away. Think the cab ride was $5 US. I highly recommend these accomadations to anyone that wants to sample the wonderful people, food and beauty of Cartegena.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed both the unit and the building. It was perfect in every way. It came fully equipped with the essential small appliances and kitchenware. And, it was spotless with beautiful ceramic floors. The building's excellent pool and exercise facilities were also a big plus. The excellent location offered walking access to lots of shops, restaurants, grocery stores and the beach. We know where we'll be staying on our next vacation.......here!
