Description & Details of Castello di Tavolese
In the heart of Tuscany, Tavolese Castle is a unique blend of art, history and nature, enhanced by a strong wine and food tradition. Once home to noble Tuscan families, it has stood witness to the region's long and colorful past. Commanding a majestic position over the valley below, this heritage home enjoys breathtaking views over the charming Chianti countryside.

Located halfway between Florence and Siena, the castle is an ideal place for a Tuscan holiday, a romantic honeymoon, a fitness weekend, a wine and food experience, a dream wedding, a business meeting or simply a relaxing getaway amongst the beauty and many attractions that Chianti has to offer.

Background History

Tavolese Castle dates back to the first half of the 13th century. Its oldest known inhabitants were the Uberti family, whose son Manente was nicknamed “Farinata” because of his yellow blonde hair. Manente was a nobleman of the Ghibelline faction and as such, was a proud supporter of the emperor against the pope. Born into one of the oldest and most important Florentine families, he was mentioned by Dante Alighieri in his Divine Comedy in two different chants.
