With views that stretch from sunrise to sunset, over dunes and beach, river and ocean, maritime forest and a vast salt marsh, it's a setting that blurs the distinction between fact and fantasy. As a matter of fact, Hollywood has discovered this ready-made movie set over the past few years, and it isn't uncommon to see the occasional celebrity tooling about the island on a bicycle or an electric cart.

And that's just one of the many charms of this idyllic place. Since no bridge connects Bald Head Island to the mainland, residents and visitors leave their cars at the island's mainland embarkation point in Southport, 30 miles south of Wilmington, NC, then board a passenger ferry for a 20-minute cruise across the historic Cape Fear River. The ferry ride provides a delightful transition to the leisurely pace of electric vehicles that are used to travel the island's winding lanes and seaside drives.

A deposit of 50% of the total account balance, including all applicable fees and taxes, is due within 14 days of reservation. Upon receipt of your deposit, a Guest Rental Agreement will be mailed along with a confirmation of your reservation. Your account balance is due in full along with signed Guest Rental Agreement at least 30 days prior to your arrival date. Reservations made fewer than 30 days in advance of arrival date require payment in full. Deposits are held in an interest-bearing account with accrued interest payable to Bald Head Island Limited. Accepted methods of payment include MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, traveler’s check, personal check or cash. All checks must be issued in U.S. funds and drawn on a bank that operates within the U.S. Federal Reserve System. A $25 fee will be assessed on all returned checks and for those not complying with the stated requirements. The rates quoted for all rental properties are not inclusive of certain costs, such as parking, ferry tickets and temporary membership privileges to the Bald Head Island Club.



A 45-day cancellation policy is in effect. Cancellations must be made by the party in whose name the reservation is made. If your reservation is canceled 45 or more days in advance of your arrival date, 90% of any monies paid will be refunded. If reservation is canceled fewer than 45 days in advance of your arrival date, no refunds will be made unless the accommodations unit is re-rented. If the unit is re-rented at the same rate, 90% of any monies paid will be refunded. If the unit is re-rented at a discount rate, the difference will be deducted from your refund. Subject to availability, reservations may be rescheduled for a later arrival date if notice is given 30 days or more in advance of originally scheduled arrival date. Any deposits or prepayments may be applied to the rescheduled reservation, and all other reservation requirements are applicable. Any monies paid for transportation will be refunded in full. No refund or rate adjustment will be made for malfunction of air conditioners, TV’s or appliances. Repairs will be made as soon as possible after notification, or other comparable accommodations will be provided, depending upon availability. Marsh Harbour Inn has a seven day cancellation policy. All cancellations have a $25 service fee.
