Il Duchesco is an organic country farm in the heart of the “Maremma Natural Park”, Tuscany. near Argentario CoastWe have availability of ten comfortable double rooms and we offer B&B service: overnight stay and breakfast at buffet with our home-made cakes, organic jams, yoghurt, bread, ham, cheese, fruit juice, .... Our rooms have independent entrance with a small garden including table and chairs and they have bathroom with shower and hairdryer. They are furnished in “Old Tuscan style” and equipped with fridge, TV and linen. Our structure has a kitchen in common for our guests, equipped with barbecue, two cooking stoves and two sinks, where it is possible to prepare your food, if you are not interested to go out to eat.In Spring and Summer we are open with our “AgriOrganicRestaurant”, shop and tasting point of typical and organic products and from May 2010 we will be opened with our restaurant for lunch and dinner.Our Chef is a partner of Alliance Chef in Slow Food Associatione You could choose between a menù à la carte or half-board service. You reach the sea in 7/10 minutes by car either to the north or to the south(about 7 miles). To the north there is the Maremma Natural Park’s beach and at the same distance southly you find the long sand beaches that lead to the Argentario promontory (where rock and stone beaches begin). A cycling track starts from Alberese (where it is possible to rent bikes in 3 different points) and leads to Marina di Alberese inside the Natural Park. In Alberese town there are also some points for horse-riding either for experts or beginners: 2 hours for beginners inside the Park and 4 hours for the experts with the Maremman “butteri”, typical cow-boys…an unforgettable experience! We are the first country farm with ECOLABEL certification, in 2005 we were awarded by the Tuscan and Lombardia Regions for eco-efficient parameters. Referring to our idea to promote a sustainable and eco-efficient turistic development of our territory, recently we built a mini wind-system concerning the plant of two wind blades of 12 mt. height that produce clean electricity for the consumption in our farm. In addition, we built a photovoltaic panel and a solar thermic panel that is for the heating of the water in our rooms for the consumption of our guests.

Finally, we received the first “Prize for good practices for renewable energies” in the International festival of Ecology and Solidarity “Festambiente” organized by Legambiente “Festambiente” (Rispescia – August 2006) and a mention as finalist in the Royal Accomodation Award for Sustainable Tourism in Europe 2006, organized by the Danish and Spanish Royal Crowns (Copenhagen, November 2006).
