... of fresh pine (No Smoking Please!), and a relaxing aura brightly lit by large windows and 9+' ceilings. Most of the floors offer carpeted comfort to your sock feet. (Please leave shoes by the front door or under the stairs. The place is brand new!)
The Adirondacks vacation property was created as a complete (roof to ground) reconstruction of the barn on a roughly 4 acre property, originally built 100 years ago by Ryan's Great-Great Grandfather, Joe Burkart, who together with his sons, sold the first Model T Ford in Lewis County, Owned a Pontiac Dealership right in town on Main street, and a Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation company 35 miles south in Utica. Artefacts remain...
The bedrooms are upstairs, and share a full bathroom with large stall shower (We had to install it before the upstairs walls were framed.) The windows look over pleasant meadow, wildlife, and garden views. The second bathroom, with shower over tub, serves the open and bright living, dining, and kitchen area. The kitchen is very well equipped (the microwave was added over the stove since the kitchen photos were taken), and the window over the sink looks out to the meadow, where kids and deer take turns.
Golf is 10-15 minutes away, near Lake Brantingham.
The main Snowmobile Trail, which also serves Quads in Summer, runs through adjacent properties (See the Snowmobiling Rules for Port Leyden at our website.)
BRING YOUR TOYS! The circular drive offers lots of room to park and maneuver your boats, quads, snowmobile, trailers and toy haulers.
The Black River runs along the other side of Rt. 12, it's about a 5 minute walk down Main St. to the dam and overlook.
One of several Beach and Swimming opportunities is a few minutes north at Whetstone Gulf, famous for fossil rocks and fun! Another is 30-40 minutes into Adirondack Park in Old Forge, the waterslides at Enchanted Forest Water Safari.
Old Forge also offers a broad array of dining, shopping, nightlife, and fun for all ages. After a day in Old Forge, it's always nice to come back to the tranquility of Ryan's Loft! Visit the Mountain Dog Saloon at cocktail time right in town, and dine a few minutes south at the Boonville Hotel, with its surprising Deco Bar.
The Smith's and their two respectful and helpful teens, live next door at the main house. They are on premises to help with housekeeping, share laundry machines, check you in and out, give you directions to local attractions, etc... We're very happy to have them there, and you will be too!
When it's convenient for the Smiths, they may offer extra room if the Loft becomes popular for too many of your friends at once... please ask well in advance.
