Description & Details of Buffalo Gap Guest Ranch
Our full service lodging, restaurant and lounge, camper hookups and dry camp sites plus our stock and arena facilities are your homestead for an overnight rest or for days long adventures in the North Dakota Badlands. Enjoy the best steak east of the Pacific Ocean and your favorite beverage in our recently expanded dining room overlooking the rolling hills and buttes of the colorful Badlands.

Rest yourself in one of our modern air conditioned rooms built in a rustic log cabin style, furnished with two queen size beds and two single bunks with full bath and daily maid service to sleep six in complete comfort. Enjoy the scenery and a beverage on the board walk or the deck. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Badlands while soaking in our outdoor hot tub.

Traveling with your camper or RV? hook up to services on one of the camper sites. Youngsters under 12 stay free with one paid adult. If you are traveling with stock, there are barns, segregated pens, corals and a new arena with clean fresh water and room for 80 head. Feed and certified hay available.

Follow in Teddy Roosevelt's tracks as you ride the Maah Daah Hey Trail and the new Buffalo Gap Trail with experienced guides and outfitters or strike out on your own. Bring your favorite horse, mountain bike or hiking boots to ride or walk these rugged, beautiful and silent Badlands. Get up close and personal with some of the most spectacular scenery in the west.

Sightseeing and photographic opportunities are virtually endless. As you travel the long, wooded draws and high plateaus, watch for the abundant local wildlife. Bighorn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Wild Turkeys, Sharp-tail Grouse, Coyotes, Prairie Dogs and a wide variety of song birds and birds of prey are your trail companions beneath the brilliant blue sky. Breathe in the fresh, pure air surrounded by the fantastic designs of Mother Nature in this one of a kind Badlands.

Start your day with a good, hot ranch buffet breakfast and, if you wish, we'll pack your saddlebag lunch for the trail. At day's end, if you prefer, a shuttle service will return you to the ranch headquarters for supper and a night in one of your cozy log cabins. Whether you sleep on the trail under a fantastic blanket of stars or in a cabin, you will enjoy the relaxing, restful sounds of nature found only in a country where people are scattered enough to appreciate each other. To break the silence as did the early settlers in this country, you will enjoy the old fashioned cowboy dancing on our indoor / outdoor dance floor or an evening bonfire.

In addition to lodging and trail riding opportunities, folks find our arena and stable facilities ideal for their Team Roping and Calf Penning competitions and more than one couple has tied the nuptial knot or held their reception in Code of the West fashion right here at Buffalo Gap Guest Ranch
