My father and I stayed there for a week in Sept. Theirs a lot of things to do there. I snorkeled from the backyard and found conch, stone crab, scallops, oysters and starfish. Fishing from there is pretty good but fishing from the kayaks Was much better. I caught several trout and grilled them for dinner on their nice grills. The building was mostly empty for our stay and I talked the owners into taking us fishing instead of the cruise. The Pinellas trail was cool. If you want a short bike ride you can go south to downtown and the marina. The shopping is not touristy. There are no shell shops and bathing suit stores, which is a plus in my book. There is a little crab shack about 3 blocks away that has the best burgers and fish. I road a bike there several times and had a beer while I waited for my order. You can also ride or drive across the bridge to Caladesi Island. The beech was gorgeous Just do not stop in the snack shop, thieves. A beer was $4, a tea $3. I did see several turtles there and a lot of hermit crabs from the beautiful beach snorkeling underwater. Its one of the best shelling beaches. The owners were gracious and helpful and easy to get along with. I would love to go back.
