Located on Lake Margrethe just 5 miles west of Grayling, our Northern Michigan cottage is perfect for your close to home getaway. Located just off M-72 west of Grayling, we are on the northeast side of the largest lake in Crawford County.
Sunset View is a lake front cottage. The Danish landing is comprised of approximately twenty small summer cottages. It is quiet and peaceful and the neighbors are friendly and sociable. Most of the other cottages are privately owned and used by the owners primarily on weekends. The Danish Landing is well shaded and is located on the eastern side of Lake Margrethe so the prevailing winds keep the landing cooler during the hottest weather. There is a large wooded tract behind the landing which is great for nature walks. All kinds of wild life abounds as we are located adjacent to the Hanson Wildlife Refuge.
There are blankets, pillows, pots and pans and utensils at the cottage. There is a microwave oven and a coffee maker. Linens are not provided. Both bedrooms have a standard double bed. There is a queen-size sofa bed in the living room. In case of inclement weather you may want to bring electronic entertainment (radio, portable TV, DVD player, etc.) with you. The cottage is all electric including heat. Of course, there is hot water and a shower. There is a fire pit near the shore and a sun deck attached to the dock is provided for your use.
Lake Margrethe is the largest lake in Crawford County covering 1920 acres. It lies five miles west of Grayling on M-72. North bay, which is where we are located, is very shallow. Depth in the center of the bay does not exceed ten feet. The deepest spot in the lake is 65 feet deep.
The lake contains walleye, small mouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, perch, rock bass, blue gills, tigermuskies, catfish and bullheads. Fishing is excellent. We can direct you to the hotspots. Water skiing and tubing are good, too. The lake is large enough to accommodate everyone.
We have an aluminum rowboat available for your use. Bring your own boat if you wish. There is a public DNR launch (permit not required) located on the west side of the lake at the state forest campground.
We allow pets but there is an additional charge of $50.00 per week for any and all pets. You must also follow all rules and regulations of the Danish Landing Association regarding pets. All dogs must be leashed while outdoors and you must clean up after them.
We ask a $100 deposit to reserve. We primarily rent by the week but will rent for certain weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day if we do not have weekly reservations. Please call if you have any questions. If you get our answering machine, just leave a message.
