The hotel's careful renovation during 2004 and 2005 has resulted in a cozy balance between traditional architecture and modern facilities and amenities. The houses at ikies are carved out of pumice into the cliffs of the caldera and boast post-card perfect white-washed roofs, yet each house is equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, direct-dial telephone lines, satellite TV, and some of the houses even have private outdoor hot tubs.
