Stunning Paris Art Deco Duplex Townhouse Vacation Rental ID#314295
IN RESPONSE TO POPULAR DEMAND... I have made my apartment in Paris available for short-term rentals on a highly selective basis. Everybody, of course, wants to know what highly selective means. It means... compulsively neat, thoroughly housebroken non-smokers who would be aesthetically troubled by a crooked painting; who learned at an early age not to roller blade in the living room or finger-paint on the sofa; and who always remember to wipe their feet, turn off the stove, and take the key.If this describes you and you are contemplating a vacation in Paris but are daunted

THE APARTMENT: The apartment is an elegant duplex on a private street in a 1930s art deco building. It's furnished in a comfortable yet minimalist style with many modern classics from the 20’s and 30’s by such designers as Mies Van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, and Eileen Gray.
On the first floor are the living room with its dramatic 22-foot high ceiling, a dining area, powder room, and modern kitchen. A sweeping stairway leads to the second floor which consists of a master bedroom with a queen-size bed, a large bathroom with an oversized tub and separate shower, and a study that overlooks the living room. There's loads of closet space for clothes and suitcases.
The apartment is luxuriously ideal for two. Depending on the degree of intimacy shared by various guests, however, the main apartment can sleep up to five persons: two upstairs in the master bedroom; two in the living room on a nice, firm B&B Italia sofabed; and one more in the living room on a day bed.
LOCATION:The apartment is in the 16th Arrondissement, long known as one of the most fashionable and beautiful sections of Paris. It is an area of elegant boulevards, stylish boutiques, and bustling neighborhood centers. Yet the broad, tree-lined streets give you more breathing room than in the crowded and noisy tourist districts. Guests say that staying at Avenue Rodin makes them feel like Parisians instead of visitors.
GUEST REVIEWS:I have an extensive collection of unsolicited testimonials from guests. I am happy to email this in response to your inquiry to provide you with additional perspectives on the apartment and neighborhood.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD:The apartment is just steps from the colorful neighborhood center. Within half a block are two supermarkets, several bakeries, fruit and green grocers, cheese and wine shops, a butcher, and a convenience market that stays open late as well as on Sundays. You’ll also find ATMs, florists, a pharmacy, cafés and brasseries, a photo shop, dry cleaners, video store, hair salons, gourmet food takeout shops, as well as restaurants.
The post office is a block away. A few blocks farther you’ll find a modern indoor public swimming pool, the Ranelagh Gardens and Musée Marmottan, indoor and outdoor food markets, and the chic boutiques on Rue de Passy and Avenue Victor Hugo. A five- to ten-minute walk takes you to the Bois de Boulogne which, with its lakes, woods, and gardens, is a great place to jog if, heaven forbid, you’re into that sort of thing.
GETTING AROUND PARIS;Paris is a walker’s city. The Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, Arc de Triomphe, and Champs Elysées are all within easy strolling distance of the apartment. Of course, you could take a day getting to any of these spots since there are so many wonderful sights, shops, and cafés along the way.
Public transportation in Paris is superb and easy to use. You’ll have no trouble getting anyplace you want in the city from Avenue Rodin.
The Métro stop (Rue de la Pompe) is one short block away. This line takes you to the Champs Elysées, the famous department stores downtown, the Opera, Bateaux Mouches, Trocadero, Eiffel Tower, and many other places you’ll want to visit. You can change to the #1 line which goes to the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, Tuileries, Palais Royale, Musée du Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Place des Vosges, Marais, and Bastille - just to name a few of the attractions.
There are two bus routes that stop within a block of the apartment, as well as several more you can catch a few blocks farther away. The 52 goes to the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, rue du Faubourg St. Honoré (famous for its fancy stores), the Madeleine, and the Opéra in the heart of the downtown shopping district where Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps have their main stores.
My favorite bus, the 63, is great for sightseeing and visiting a lot of Paris’s attractions and interesting neighborhoods. It goes along Avenue George Mandel to the Trocadero, crosses the Seine at the Pont de l’Alma, and has wonderful views of the river and Place de la Concorde. The bus then goes along Boulevard St. Germain to the heart of the left bank and the Latin quarter. You can take this bus to the Bateaux Mouches, Tuileries, Musée d’Orsay, Invalides, Luxembourg Gardens, Sorbonne, Notre Dame, and many other places you’ll want to see.
This is a rare and stunning apartment for the discriminating traveler who appreciates and knows how to care for fine surroundings. No smoking and, sorry, no pets. Children welcome as long as their parents are well behaved.
