The city of Bayeux has many attractions. The tapestry is fascinating, and the Cathedral that William the conquerer built is awesome. The city of Bayeux is very pretty, being small enough to wlak everywhere for sight seeing. It has many ancient cobbled streets, pretty boutiques and coffee houses,.
Caen is worth visiting with the old centre which escaped the bombings of the second world war, and its' newer vibrant environment as well. The market on Friday is extensive and very different. The horse and trap racing is interesting too.
St Lo was bombed very badly, but its' fortifications and castle walls remain. There is a modern indoor and outdoor swimming complex here.
Deauville and Trouville are both worth looking at, as of course, is St. Mary l'eglise, along with the Cherbourg penninsular, which is lovely.
It is about a two hour drive to Mount St Michel.
The trains to Paris are very fast ( 2 hours only) and frequent. The parking at the station in Bayeux is free, making a day trip very possible.
Into the surrounding countryside, the area of Suisse Normande is delightful, in particular the little town of Clecy. Here you will find canoeing on the many fast flowing rivers, horse riding , bungi jumping and many other sportive activities.
