New England Cottage is a large house that can be rented as a single 5-bedroom space or by the floor, as individual apartments. The upstairs apartment contains 3 bedrooms and a balcony, while the lower floor offers 2 bedrooms and a shady patio. There are separate entrances to each apartment, with the only shared spaces being the back yard.
Your first thought when entering this apartment will probably be, Luxury! There is a huge open-plan living and dining area, with one area set aside for the kitchen, another for couches around a huge flat-screen HDTV. A cool tiled floor and light, airy atmosphere pervades this space, lifting the spirits. You've arrived, and now the murmur o the surf is your soundtrack!
One of the couches in the living room converts to a queen-sized bed, and both are heavenly for naps. After a busy day at the beach or in historic downtown St. Augustine, it's such a pleasure to come home to New England Cottage and collapse beneath the ceiling fan to watch a favorite movie or play a quick round of Outburst with the whole gang.
Our big living area has room for the kids to spread out all the shells they've collected on the beach, someone to set up a jigsaw puzzle, and another to read the Sunday paper in complete comfort -- all without getting in each other's way! If you're used to hotel rooms, you won't believe the difference having enough room can make to the quality of your vacation!
And whether you're looking to cook some homemade meals this trip or to sample some of St. Augustine's finest restaurants (whatever you do, don't miss don't miss Columbia!), you'll appreciate the convenience and contents of the kitchenette at New England Cottage. Full-sized appliances and cabinets full of cookware, dishes, and utensils make it possible for you to take the catch of the day and turn it into a feast, to be served at our long dining table beside the kitchen. The dining room table is the nerve center of New England Cottage, and has been known to double as a computer center (you have free wireless Internet here, so you can stay as connected as you want to be!) and game table. Of course, there are many other tempting places to dine, from the casual seating around the pool to the beach itself, just a hop skip and jump away!
But New England Cottage is more than a studio apartment: two roomy bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, plus the sofa sleeper, make this apartment more than enough for 6 people.
One of the bedrooms contains a queen-sized bed and ensuite full bathroom. The bath is modern and spotless, with both a shower and tub option. And you'll find fresh linens and towels waiting for you when you arrive, plus our washer and dryer to keep everything clean and fresh. We've tried to think of everything you'll need! The second bedroom is perfect for kids with 2 twin beds.
But the best part of New England Cottage is the location. Our quiet street terminates in the white sands of St. Augustine Beach, just yards from your front door. This is a family-oriented, unspoiled beach, great for shelling, beachcombing, sandcastle-building, and boogie-boarding. Bring your binoculars and chances are you'll spot our school of dolphins; even without glasses you can't miss the stately lines of pelicans that glide out over the water to dive-bomb for their dinner! The sunrises are lovely here, and if you climb up to the crow's nest in the late afternoon, you can toast the sunset, too!
