Location. The Hotel Amber is located in Krakow, Poland, in the centre of the old town less than 500 metres from the main square, the Cloth Hall and St Mary's Basilica, and one kilometre from St Florian's Gate and Wawel Castle. Krakow railway station is 500 metres away and Krakow Balice Airport is 15 kilometres away. Hotel Features. The Hotel Amber occupies a restored pink and white building with an iron balcony above the entrance. Expert Tip. St Florian's Gate was part of fortifications built against a feared Turkish attack in the 13th century, and one of the few pieces to survive demolition in the 19th century. A bas relief of St Florian, patron saint of Poland, adorns the south wall.

Driving Directions: From Krakow Balice International Airport (KRK): Distance to Hotel Amber is 15 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A free shuttle bus is available to the airport train station, which is 200 metres away from the terminal. A train runs every 30 minutes between Krakow Dworzec Glowny station and the airport from 4 a.m. to midnight. Tickets can be paid for on the train, with a single journey costing about 4 PLN and taking about 15 minutes. There are two bus services operating between the airport and Krakow city centre, leaving every 15-25 minutes and costing 3 PLN. Each piece of large luggage must have a separate ticket. All fares should be validated before boarding. Taxis wait outside the terminal and cost around 77 PLN to downtown Krakow and the hotel. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Rickshaws, horse-drawn carriages and electric carts transport visitors through Krakow's historic city centre. Much of the city centre has been pedestrianised, while buses and trams navigate everywhere else. A one-day travel pass costs 10 PLN; an adult single ticket is 2.50 PLN. A relatively economical way to get around is via taxis, which are plentiful throughout the city.

Driving directions. From the airport, take Medweckiego street, then turn left into Olszanicka street which turns into Chelmska street. Turn left into Junacka street which then turns into Królowej Jadwigi street. After about four kilometres, turn left into Ferdynanda Focha street and turn left again into Adama Mickiewicza Alee. Drive straight on through the juncture with Karmelicka street, then take the second right, Lobzowska street. At the end of the street turn right into Garbarska street where the hotel is found.
