Built in 2005, the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane is sited 50 metres from the river on the edge of the harbour's new cultural and residential district and within two kilometres of the city centre and lively Temple Bar area. Lannigans is an informal restaurant with white-oak tables, tartan fabrics, and wooden booths with cushioned leather seating, and serves traditional Irish dishes and international modern bistro fare. Named after a U2 song, the ultra-modern Vertigo bar draws inspiration from Japanese decor and serves East-meets-West bento boxes.

Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane has eight floors and 211 guestrooms, all of which feature light decor with chocolate, cappuccino and burgundy touches, and colour-coordinated abstract prints by local artists. Expert Tip. The local area has become a pilgrimage site for U2 fans. The band played some of their earliest gigs at the Waterfront Rock Café and currently record at Hanover Studios, both within 500 metres. Windmill Lane, 200 metres away, is the site of the 'U2 Wall', which is covered with graffiti by fans.
