AdobeDesertRentals -- A restful and energizing recovery retreat (superb accommodations) in the midst of the Sonora Desert.
ADR homes and casitas are well constructed, spotlessly clean, true adobe structures designed to enable you to enjoy your natural surroundings from any room. The desert sunsets are not to be missed. They seem to last forever.
AdobeDesertRentals are located 2 miles from the Sonora Desert Museum and the Saguaro National Park -- both great places to visit.
Downtown Tucson is an easy 30 minute drive to the east where there are many fine restaurants, museums and galleries and no rush hour traffic. The Santa Catalina Mountains are an easy hour away. Karen and Lyle are gracious, accommodating and knowledgeable hosts. We are eager to return.

accurately described, clean, well maintained, very helpful owners, highly recommendable. this is an ecologically sound, casa loma roja is a comfortable 2 bedroom house in a pristine, private, saguaro-filled desert, with coyotes, bobcats, fox, quail, woodpeckers literally at your doorstep, within the saguaro national park, and less than 5 minutes from the amazing arizona sonora desert museum, and world class desert mountain hiking and biking. the perfect way to get away from it all.

We loved our stay in the desert. It was quiet and peaceful. The desert is beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular. We biked and hiked in the nearby Tucson Mountains. We hope to come back next year.

Casita Bonita is indeed a beautiful, little house. This wonderful adobe home is the perfect place to rest, recuperate, and rejuvenate. Karen is a terrific owner who has provided guests with everything they could possibly desire in this gorgeous desert location. Nearby is the Sonoran Desert Museum, which will appeal to individuals of all ages. Hiking and mountain biking trails are plentiful throughout Tucson Mountain Park and provide magnificent views of flora, fauna, and breath-taking sunsets. This is an outstanding experience that guests will remember for years and years.

We've been coming here at least once a year for the past ten years. It is a piece of desert paradise. The properties are clean and well-maintained-- with southwestern ambiance and charm-- and the views are spectacular. It feels like you are staying in the middle of a park, with lush desert foliage, stunning sunsets and birds singing. Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum are just a few minutes away, and you can drive into downtown Tucson for dinner over scenic roads in a little more than 30 minutes. Our hosts have always been warm and friendly and are ready to fix any problem that might arise. Extra advantages here include a washer-dryer, hot tub, Wi Fi, and air conditioning. The serenity and quiet of the place create a true desert experience. The stars at night are fantastic. I could go on and on. We simply love it and recommend the Adobe Desert Properties to anyone.

What do I love most about Karen Hymer Thompson's four properties IN the Sonoran desert? First, the fact that they are IN the desert. You can drink in the silence and the wildlife morning until night. We have been coming here alone, and with friends, for the past ten years. We have stayed in all 4 units (1 bedroom and 2 bedrooms). We have bird watched, star gazed, rested, relaxed, and enjoyed views from each one of the private desert patios. And no, we have never been bothered by guests in the other unit. You share no walls and there are so many outside patios and views that you rarely even know anyone else is there. We love the fireplace in the winter. We love soaking in the outdoor hot tub all seasons under the stars and among the saguaro. Watching the glorious sunsets from the hot tub is a special pleasure.
The casas/casitas are located just a few miles from the Saguaro National Park West. Great hiking! Great Visitor Center! And just a few miles more from world famous Desert Museum, a must see in Tucson. They have an excellent gourmet restaurant at the Desert Museum. And If you want to get into Tucson and the University Area, it's just a short drive over Gates Pass.
After all of the development in Tucson in the past 20 years , it is so nice to know that a place exists where you can still see (and be a part of) the desert as it once was, with a diversity of plants and animals now found only in parks (and here!). We love it and we wouldn't stay anywhere else when coming to Tucson! This is the pristine Sonoran desert of your dreams. Book early for the best choice of dates.
Oh and I want to say how much I also enjoy having a washing machine and dryer! Great for long stays!

We have been staying at Casita Nopalito yearly since 2003, usually for four weeks. We love the peace, quiet and beauty of the desert and always enjoy the visits from the desert wildlife. Numerous hiking trails are just minutes away in the nearby Tucson Mountains. This is an ideal location to use as a home base to experience Tucson.
