The Oaks is equipped with bar fridge, microwave, toaster oven, two burner cooktop, crock pot, coffee maker and grinder, dishes, cutlery, electric frying pan, wok, cooking utensils and all the other things you might want (including cookbooks and spices). There is also a barbecue available for your use. We love to cook and figure that you should have everything you need in case you do too. You will find flour, salt, pepper, spices, sugar, coffee & tea, milk, fruit, bread, breakfast cereals, and lots of other 'essentials' to get you started. You will even find candles for those romantic evenings.
The bedroom has a queen size bed and of course, all linens are provided and you will have easy access to the laundry room which is shared with the rest of our home. An ironing board and iron are in the common room.
For your entertainment the Oaks is equipped with a colour TV and stereo hi-fi VCR (both on cable service), CD player, tape deck and receiver. A bookcase is filled with novels for your pleasure. There are also cards, games and puzzles, so you can have fun even if it rains!
The Oaks has a private telephone line with two telephones. You can make free local calls, or modem onto the Internet via your laptop or notebook. Long distance calls may be made by credit card. We will give you the number on booking confirmation so that you can also receive calls from family and friends.
To help you get around and make the most of your stay in beautiful Victoria, we will provide you with current maps, publications, and information on current events.
Travelling with little ones? Cribs, highchairs, car-seats, playpens, strollers, roll-away beds and other items are available on request for a small rental fee. Just ask us.

The Oaks Guest House is nestled at the end of a quiet cul de sac in the garry oak meadow of the prestigious Rockland district of Victoria. Our neighbours include the Lieutenant Governor whose lovely gardens are open to the public from sunrise to sunset and historic Craigdarroch Castle, built by the controversial 19th century coal barron, Sir Robert Dunsmuir. You might have seen the castle in movies such as Little Women or on Famous Castles of America.
It is a 15 minute walk to Gonzales Beach, historic Ross Bay Cemetary where witches are reputed to celebrate, and the beautiful Strait of Juan de Fuca. Downtown Victoria is a 25 minute walk or a 5 minute drive or bike ride. Here you can enjoy the Royal BC Museum, the beautiful inner harbour, the Parliament Buildings of British Columbia, the National Geographic Imax Theatre, the Empress Hotel (for high tea), and lots of wonderful sights and shops.
