This rental surpassed my expectations and those of the rest of my family. Understanding that this is a beach house in a relatively secluded neighborhood of Chincoteague, Va, the house was impeccably clean as we walk into the door. We have seen one previous comment regarding how bad the house was and we were a little apprehensive about what we would find but a friend of mine recommended the house to me. There is no reason to be afraid about anything regarding those comments. We found the house in a very good order for our vacation time.
There were two couples and three children under 10 yrs. The owner was flexible to allow us to house 9 since my parents came for three days as well.
It was convenient to have access to the internet with my computer and carry on my business as we were away on vacation. My sister was happy having the opportunity to use her ITouch which was a nice treat.
We were provided with instruction on how to leave the house: just as we found it! Yes, we had to clean the house at the end of a restful and pleasant week, which we would have liked not having to do the cleaning. I just got back my deposit check. No problem whatsoever! The experience was pleasant in a tasteful done place and a kind owner. We would like to return for a weekend this fall.

This rental was disappointing to say the least. It was listed as sleeping 8, however one of the four bedrooms had bunk beds which were too small to sleep an adult. Another "bedroom" didn't even have a door and was directly attached to the kitchen.
Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that this house had not been occupied by people since the previous season. The windows were stuck closed and the air inside was incredibly stale and musty. The refrigerator was turned off and took hours to be cool enough to store food and beverages in.
The were numerous aspects of the house that were in obvious disrepair. The barbecue was literally on its last leg and would barely stand once loaded with charcoal. The tracks for the screen doors were completely destroyed which made it nearly impossible to open and close them. The outdoor shower had absolutely zero water pressure. The Wi-Fi/internet was not functional due to the fact that the account had been suspended by the ISP. The deck was covered in decomposing pine tree matter and pollen and the yard was a completely unkempt expanse of dirt and pine needles while all of the other houses on the street had nicely groomed, green lawns.
The worst part of this rental experience was, despite all of the issues with the house, dealing with the owner. Our security deposit was not returned to us despite the fact that the house was left in better condition than when we arrived. We cleaned off the deck, unstuck all of the windows, and did our best to make the barbecue and screen doors function properly without falling over. Yes, both the barbecue and screen doors had fallen over on us. There was no explanation as to why the security deposit was not returned. Contacting the owner to reclaim our security deposit has proven fruitless.
In short, I am very dissatisfied. I would give a "zero" rating if this site supported it.
