Surrounded by grassy fields, The Red House overlooks the Pool, a large saltwater inlet. Dig clams for dinner or have a swim if you're brave! The original farmhouse (Antique Unit) c.1800 has 4 bedrooms--3 have the same lovely ocean view as the fireplaced living room and spacious dining room. The large 4th bedroom faces the fields behind the house where grazing deer can often be seen. All rooms in the original house are furnished with antiques. The kitchen (new in 2011) has a rear door opening to the utility room (renovated in 2013) with washer and dryer. The New Unit of the Red House has 3 bedrooms, each with private bath. The new living room, with woodstove, has the same commanding ocean view as the old house. The new kitchen has a cozy dining area with a rear door opening onto the utility room, (shared with the old house.) Essentially, there are 2 houses connected by a utility room. In addition, a separate barn has new living quarters on the 2nd floor with 1 bedroom, full kitchen, dining area, living room with ocean view and loft with views of western and eastern shores of Gt. Cranberry Island.
Great Cranberry is a offshore island--2 miles by passenger-only ferry. Cars are left on the mainland. We supply a van for your transportation to and from the dock. Bikes can be carried on the ferry if you wish to explore the island by road

You can hike all round the shoreline--areas between high and low tide are public domain (tides are 10')--pack a lunch and have a picnic!--go sunbathing, collect shells and shore treasures. You can go swimming (you might want a wet suit) or you can go fishing off the dock. The Whale's Rib is a great little gift shop on the island.
