Desert Island and the ocean. Across from this room is a recently renovated bathroom with its own extra heater.

Further down the hall, are 2 children's rooms also with great views; one has a twin bed and the other a bunk bed. On the basement level is an extra bedroom, great for teenagers, with a trundle bed, and a little half-bath under the staircase.

The last bedroom is medium-sized. It has a Queen bed, dresser, built-in closet, mirror and a forest view.

Local library has free high speed internet connection with your built in modem on your laptop.

Our rocky Maine beach is a two-minute walk through the forest. We also have an above-ground swimming pool on the lower lawn. It's not huge, but great for cooling off at the height of the day.

*********************************************************************************************Splendid views of Mt. Desert Island, Suttons Island, the ocean, and the mountains of Acadia National Park.

The area offers many nature opportunities from hiking the mountains of Acadia park to Kayaking and sailing, seal and whale boat tours or simply nature walks along the shores of the island. Beach combing and sea glass hunts are favorites among children.

The island library has books, Internet connection and a kids playground. There is a delightful gift shop on the island that offers local crafts and tasteful art and artifacts from other areas.

If you go off island (ferry goes every 2 hours) to Northeast Harbor or Bar Harbor tourist shops and activites are abundant. The island itself is more low key. There is tennis, island suppers, musicales, and bingo nights if the renters feel the need for some outside social life.

Church services are held in the Protestant church during the months of July & August.
