Mexico City: A Place that Never Sleeps

One of Latin America’s most prominent cities, Mexico city is a big metropolis full of attractions, things to do and Mexico City vacation rental options. It is the country’s capital and its economic, cultural and industrial center. It is also one of the largest and most populated cities in the world with more than eight million inhabitants. Visitors to Mexico City will see that it is officially divided into 16 districts or “delegaciones” which are further divided into “colonias” or neighborhoods. It is important to have a grasp of these colonias as almost all locals will know where a given colonia is, but keep in mind that some colonias have similar or duplicate names.

Plaza Garibaldi – Mariachi: A popular square surrounded by restaurants and cafes where groups of musicians known as mariachis play folk music. Beware though, that payment is expected every time they play a song.

Torre Latinoamericana: If looking for a great view of the city, the Torre Latinoamericana is the place to go. With a height of 597 ft and 45 stories, this building is another major landmark of the city.

Things to Do

National Museum of Anthropology: Recognized worldwide as one of the best museums of its kind, the National Museum of Anthropology was built in the late 1960’s and it gathers an impressive collection of jewels, sculptures and handcrafts of ancient Mexican cultures.

Palacio de Bellas Artes: Very popular among tourists, the Fine Arts Palace is a concert hall and arts center that features some of Mexico’s finest murals worth seeing.
