I am not subscribed to Rentalo.com. Why am I getting inquiries? Are these inquiries from real travelers?

Rentalo.com is committed to providing the best values for travelers and vacationers while marketing your rental or lodging business with integrity.

First, it is important that you understand how Rentalo got a hold of your email address. You probably receive tons of inquiries from travelers and travel agents. If so, you should know that many propertiees (like yours) are being referred to Rentalo every day by travelers, vacationers and travel agents in our network.

Why would travelers or travel agents refer my property to Rentalo?
For the past 7 years, Rentalo has been building a loyal network of online travelers and travel agents currently consisting of 600,000 online travelers, 15,000 travel agents and 100,000 property owners and agents. Based on a recent polls, more than 98% of our property owners send offers within the first 12 hours. We also provide a tool for property owners to be able to create special offers with discounts (up to 80%) to promote the property on Rentalo's Best Value Accommodations Newsletter and send special offers to Rentalo's opted-in database of travelers. As a result, we have helped thousands of online travelers and travel agents by saving them time and money (please read our testimonials).

Rentalo’s unique business model is based on a search engine stat we discovered back in the mid 90’s revealing the fact that a very high number of online travelers (more than 80%) invest very little time searching online (an average of 8 minutes), and more than 90% usually don’t find what they are looking for. With this concept in mind, Rentalo launched its destination inquiry service in 1999. Since then Rentalo has received numerous reviews from travelers, and several endorsements from highly prestigious organizations in the travel industry (check our press articles).

In 2006, via our network of travelers, travel agents and owners, Rentalo is constantly gathering property referrals (e.g., owner’s contact information as well as some basic information about their properties). We use a number of common and proven business practices to gather these referrals, including affiliates networks, referral programs and customer surveys. (Unfortunately, sometimes the data provided by our network is not 100% accurate. This explains why we may have errors in our database e.g. incorrect contact names, wrong names of destinations, incorrect property types, and others. We are working hard to perfect our referral process however, we have found that most owners who have a legitimate need to do online advertising are able to correct these errors quickly by themselves or with the assistance of our Customer Service team).

To help our travelers find vacation properties in any of the 15,000 destinations we have available, we send partial inquiries to our database of referred owners. We do this for two reasons: First, we do this to assist travelers in finding accommodations and second, to increase our inventory of great vacation properties.

Fraud affects us all in the internet industry. In Rentalo, travelers and travel agents can click on the "Submit Inquiry" tab on any of our 15,000 destinations and complete a short form to get offers from multiple property owners at once. To minimize the number of deceptive or fraudulent inquiries, Rentalo has enforced an email verification process for all new travelers and travel agents for the past 2 years. In addition, we also have a dedicated staff performing QA functions, which include 24x7 monitoring and manual approval of suspicious inquiries. We understand these fraudulent activities, however minimal, hurt our property owner and travelers. They also hurt Rentalo's reputation, and therefore it is one of our highest priorities to eliminate (or at least minimize) these activities. Our goal is to continue improving our QA process in order to deliver an ever increasing number of high quality referrals to our property owners. Early in 2007, we plan to implement additional fraud detection technologies.
