This very tranquil location has its own private pool, located on the edge of a nature reserve with stunning views, abundant wildlife and fauna, on a walking rural setting yet close to major hillside Umbian towns. The closest town Amelia is a medieval walled town whose cyclopean walls predate the walls of Rome. Poggio Le Stalle has guests who return year after year to enjoy the beautiful rural setting, taste the delightful local cuisine and relax in the traditional italian rural setting.

LE STALLE (sleeps 10), the main farmhouse dating back to 1750 with its thick stone walls and mangers, was where the cows were originally stabled. It has 5 ensuite bedrooms, a large open-plan sitting room separated by arches from a spacious dining room and fully equipped kitchen. There's a downstairs bathroom and furthersitting room. A large verandah overlooks the valley with a pergola covered dining area.
Le CILIEGE (sleeps 2) - formerly a pig sty, it is a smaller studio farm unit for two people or a small family. It’s made up of a spacious sleeping and sitting area, a kitchenette and separate bathroom. It also has its own large verandah shaded by fruit bearing cherry trees and overlooks the swimming pool and valley.
LA PERGOLA (Sleeps 6) - The first building to be refurbished, it was converted from a sheep pen into a charming cottage. It has a large open plan sitting room with a fireplace, dining area and fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms. The cottage has a private, pergola – covered verandah which overlooks the swimming pool and has a spectacular view of the valley.

Poggio Le Stalle offers a perfect base for exploring the many picturesque hilltop medieval towns of Umbria. Spoleto, Perugia, Todi and Orvieto are less than an hour’s drive away. Slightly further afield are many other famous towns such as Assisi, Siena, Arezzo, Urbino and Florence. Rome is a forty minute train hourney from the Orte train station. The immediate vicinity of Amelia is dotted with ancient little towns such as Narni, Lugnano, Guardea, Aquasparta and Giove all just a short drive away, perfect for a look-around and a sit in the sun with a cooling drink.
Poggio le Stalle has a swimming pool and bocce court (traditional italian bowls). Guests also have the option of exploratory walks around the nature reserve that encircles the farm. For larger groups there are studio facilities available for painting, pottery, drama and yoga.
In the local area there are facilities available for horse riding, pottery classes and thermal baths and spa. There are also whitewater rafting facilities in the mountains surrounding the nearby town of Terni (availability is subject to seasonal conditions).
The area is steeped in history so there are many opportunities for cultural visits by car. It is also possible to arrange guided tours of Rome for groups of various sizes.
