Island activities include tennis, two 18 hole golf courses, a full equestrian center, a beach club with pools and snack bar, a recreation center and a full fitness center. As you drive throughout Seabrook Island the live oaks covered with Spanish moss form a shady awning overhead. The flat roads are perfect for bicycling, roller blading, or just walking and the speed limit is 25 mph. Dining on Seabrook Island offers a choice of several restaurants and there are more on nearby Kiawah and John’s island. The Beach Club provides you with views of the ocean and the use of several pools, including two pools for small children, as well as dining and drinks. There are two beach areas to choose from. The Edisto River beach affords a chance to see a dolphin feeding ground and in the spring the loggerhead turtles lay their eggs on the beach. North Beach has lovely surf and riders on horseback can sometimes be seen. The Equestrian Center provides one of the last places on the East Coast where you can enjoy a ride on the beach. The island’s wildlife includes over 100 species of birds, white tail deer, bobcats, foxes, and alligators. The marshes are teaming with life and the two 18 hole golf courses are woven throughout the island. Charleston is a short drive from Seabrook Island. It is a beautiful city of history and charm. There is a lot to do including carriage rides to view the historic Battery and the French Quarter. You can also tour the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, Shop in the Market or visit Fort Sumter where the Civil War began.
