Dear Thierry, I want to let you know about our incredible experience in the apartment we rented. It was the best experience and far superior to staying in a hotel. We have wonderful memories of the market on Sundays and Thursdays on the street out front, but we also want to share with you some local attractions that you should pass on to future renters. We found the best bakery for pastries and morning treats right on our street. Unfortunately, I did not get their card but as you leave the apartment and take a right and walk up the street and on the same side of the street is a fantastic bakery. On the street behind the apartment, at 30 rue Montorgueil, there is a restuarant we went to three times of our 8 nights there called L'Epicerie. The food is excellent, reasonably priced and the service is excellent. We were drawn back time and again. On the same street is a couple of good grocery stores to stock the apartment with the necessities as you mentioned in your introductory letter. Further up Montorgueil is the BEST gelato I have ever tasted at a place called Amorino. There are a few places w/gelato on that street, and we tried a couple, but Amorino is by far the best. If anyone asks, we were never bothered by the church bells. I don't know if it was because the doors/windows provided such good insulation or because the bed was so comfortable, but we often slept until 10 am and never were bothered by those bells!! We could very faintly hear the Metro down below, but I must tell you it was very faint and did not bother us at all. The advantage of having the Metro entrance so close made things so easy. We only used a taxi one time, the Metro was so easy to use, much easier than the New York subway. The very best part of the apartment was the feeling of being able to go 'home' to our own neighborhood, away from the crowds after being out and about in the city. It was nice to have the church as a landmark to see when we were working our way home. We went to London for the day on Eurostar. We bought tickets on line here in the US prior to going to France and the trip worked out extremely well as we left from Gare du Nord. It was reasonably priced and very easy. Thank you for all you did to make our trip so enjoyable. Nancy and Rick
