Guest Book for Serene Aruba Villa Sol Palmas 3 bdrm+ large Pool
Sol Palmas is a tropical oasis in paradise. Our merry band of travelers have visited Aruba many times. We typically stay in the high rise area. This July (2013) we ventured into the world of villa rentals and were not disappointed. John and Bobbie have opened their home and hearts so that the rest of us can experience a slice of paradise. The villa is a nicely furnished island vacation home. The personal touches make it feel like you have been welcomed into a friends home, because you have. You will find it difficult to leave the beautifully landscaped, walled in, pool area to venture out and see the rest of the island. Location, location, location. First timers to the island may find it a bit confusing to get around because, typical of any island, roads are not well marked. Once you get into a rhythm, you’ll discover how good the location is. The villa is nicely located for trips to any kind of store or restaurant you might want. It is only about a 5-10 minute ride to the beach. Our routine was to pool in the morning, pack a lunch, beach in the afternoon, pool at dusk, and then make the tough decision as to whether we should cook and dine poolside or eat out at any of the wonderful restaurants the island offers. The villa is in a “professional” and safe neighborhood (alarm system and safe). House rentals are not for those who are looking to be served and entertained, but rather for those who want to experience “living” among locals and truly “decompress” from their daily life. We did have concern that if a problem arose we might be on our own. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Aruba Living Today’s service was spot on. At one point we ran out of gas for the immaculately clean grill and 45 minutes later (late in the evening no less) a tank was delivered with a smile and an apology! We have run out of gas at a high rise timeshare hotel with a full staff and not gotten service that fast, let alone an apology. As long as you understand that you are renting a home, and that their won’t be turndown service, and you have to triangle fold the end of your own toilet paper you have found the perfect vacation villa. Our group had the most relaxing trip to Aruba we have ever experienced. Gone were the feelings of having to “do” everything the island offers for entertainment. Although it was only moments away, we generally hung by the pool and chilled. Oh...except the Mi Dushi, we always have to do the Mi Dushi. It is heartbreaking to make this recommendation because I know that John and Bobbie’s villa will become so popular that we may be turned away one day...but we can’t lie...the place is awesome. Just awesome. So if you are the high maintenance types, please do us a favor and stay at the hotels in your 24hr a day air conditioned cubical. Us...we will be turning off the a/c (except while sleeping), opening up the sliders, and letting the Aruba breeze fill the air and our hearts in this slice of paradise as often as we can. Thanks again Bobbie and John! Danki!
