On a fifty-acre estate on Kootenay Lake's East Shore, the Wedgwood Manor has stood since the turn of the last century.

Built for the daughter of British china magnate Josiah Wedgwood, the Manor is an intriguing English Country House transplanted to a setting of amazing natural beauty, where white-tailed deer browse in the fields and bald eagles and osprey soar in the sky. Read more about Wedgwood Manor's history.

Now beautifully restored and amply decorated with contemporary art, six enticing guest rooms (each with private bath) make perfect retreats from everyday life. Snuggle up with a good book in the Library. Sip tea in front of the parlour fireplace or stroll along the stone paths to secluded gardens and find your own leafy hidden niche. In the mornings you'll enjoy a delicious breakfast served at your table before the crackling fireplace in the dining room.... the perfect start to a day of exploring the Kootenay Lake Valley, golfing Kokanee Springs, touring unique local artisans' shops or just plain relaxing.

Hiking & Walking, , The Manor is situated at 1760' in a valley between two mountain ranges that tower to 12,000'. The mountains can be accessed through a network of gravel roads and trails of various lengths. Even the most active local resident hikers can only cover a small fraction of the many different trails and destinations possible. , , Hikes range from fairly level trails that follow the Kootenay Lake shore (ideal for April, May, early June hikes) to spectacular ascents to the alpine areas, where sightings of mountain goats are common. There are a number of local companies that will guide you into wilderness areas (one will even provide llamas to carry your gear!) for very reasonable fees. Please contact us for more detailed information. , , Local Strolling , , You can be on a lovely forest trail within two minutes from the Manor's doorstep, with white-tail deer bounding out of your path. We have golf packages with Kokanee Springs that include your green fees, accommodation, and meals at discounted prices. (Please phone or email for current information.) There's also an excellent 9-hole course at Riondel, 30 minutes north, that's perfect for beginners and still fun for serious golfers.
