We checked in on 4/19/2009, a party of 3 adults. We were not told at check-in, but were given a room with one king bed. I called the front desk The girl told me that when I book through something like Hotwire, I get the very cheapest room. She would move us to a room with 2 beds if I gave her fifteen dollars. We were so tired after just driving 9 1/2 hours that we stayed where we were. Big mistake! Three in a bed, coupled with our phone ringing at 11 and 3 am with no one there, led to a night of little sleep. I wish that I had not believed the check-in girl.....when I called Hotwire this morning to find out how to avoid this happening again when making a booking for three people, I was told that I was guaranteed a room appropriate for the correct number of people and should have had a room with the correct number of beds, in this case, two. I was told that I should have called Hotwire at once, and that they would have called the girl at the desk; I was also told that if they could not resolve my problem over the phone, I should have paid the extra money and they would have then reimbursed me. It would seem that because the hotel was seemingly VERY empty, the girl could have put us in a room with 2 beds as a courtesy thing. That would have earned lots of repeat business from us, as our daughter is going to be attending school in Columbia for the next several years. I should also mention that as we were standing at the frontdesk while checking in, another lady came back to the desk that had just checked in to a room that had people in it!! The desk clerk blamed the cleaning staff, but I am not sure that this would have been their fault.
